Tall Tales: Silesian parks full of excitement!

During spring and summer, Silesian Voivodeship becomes flooded with greenery, with all the trees and shrubs blooming as if there’s no tomorrow! It is during this time that the abundance of parks in Silesia becomes noticeable. According to statistics, contrary to popular belief, our voivodeship is one of the greenest areas in Poland. The availability of park and forest areas allows for frequent outdoor activities. Organizing a picnic in the park is a particularly good summer activity, whether with friends, a partner, or alone to read your favorite book under the shade of trees.

So, which park should you choose to enjoy those summer afternoons passing by so unevitably? Below we present you a list.

Kościuszko Park in Katowice

Covering 72 hectares and practically located in the city center, this park is a great place to unwind and be close to nature after a hard day. Ideally situated, it’s a favorite spot for many to go for a walk, run, play with pets, or have a picnic. The floral compositions and the layout of the alleys are reminiscent of English parks. The lush greenery is pleasing to the eye, and the numerous attractions around, such as the boules court, outdoor sculpture gallery, and highly accessible city bike stations, encourage local residents to visit. There’s also a restaurant at the park entrance where you can finish your walk with a meal or an afternoon coffee.

Silesian Park in Chorzów

Called the green lungs of Upper Silesia, this park is larger than New York’s Central Park and is visited by 3 million people annually. It offers space for everyone, whether you prefer a more idyllic way of spending free time or you like to spice it up with physical activity. Silesian Park features kilometers of walking paths, cycling routes, and trails for runners and rollerbladers. Additionally, you’ll find a rosary where you can rest amidst the rosebuds and the floral fragrances floating in the air, getting inspired by the floral arrangements. Silesian Park wouldn’t be itself without its unique facilities that enrich the time spent there, such as the zoo, Silesian Planetarium, the “Elka” cable car, or the Legendia amusement park. In short, there’s something for everyone!

Chopin Park in Gliwice

A park that is rarely talked about, and we’re all making a mistake here! The Fryderyk Chopin’s Park is one of Gliwice’s representative spots, attracting not only for its peace and quiet despite being located in the city center but also because of its wonderful collection of tropical plants. The Palm House located in the park showcases over 6,000 specimens of flora and fauna, allowing you to admire species from Africa, Australia, and the Americas. Spending time in nature here takes on a whole new meaning, where it isn’t limited to just lying on the grass, as it allows you to discover the secrets of nature and broaden your knowledge while being among exotic plant species and representatives of the aquatic world.

Muchowiec Park in Katowice

Once you’ve visited the palm house in Gliwice and want to feel like fish in oceanic water yourself, it’s good to head towards the Valley of Three Ponds. The Muchowiec Park offers a space dedicated to physical activities, with specially prepared routes for cycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, or running. Water sports enthusiasts can freely use the marina and rent equipment – boats, kayaks, pedalos, or surfboards. Besides that, Muchowiec Park offers fantastic evening attractions. Cozy bars by the water are the perfect place to meet friends for a drink, grab a bite, and sit on deckchairs to embrace your quality time.
