Saturday under the banner of ‘history’
This year’s edition of the Rally Silesia will be the sixth, during which crews competing in the Motul Poland Historic Rally Championship will also take the route. Fans wishing to watch the ‘classics’ in action, however, need to keep a few things in mind.
The nature of the event means that drivers and pilots in vintage machines will cover a shorter distance than those competing in the RSMP and ERT. Thus, the Motul HRSMP competition will begin on 8th September at 6 p.m. during a starting ceremony in the centre of Katowice – at Dworcowa Street. Soon afterwards, the crews will head to the spectacular special stage set in the streets of the capital of the Silesian Voivodship. It is worth noting that the ‘historic vehicles’ will run this looped street stage twice, which means that each of the cars will be seen by the fans as many as four times.
The main part of the competition will take place on Saturday, 9 September. The crews in their vintage machines will take off on the route one hour after the competitors of the RSMP and ERT and will tackle exactly the same seven special stages. The rally cavalcade will visit the municipalities of Jasienica and Hażlach, as well as the city of Jastrzębie-Zdrój. The historic rally will culminate with a spectacular superstage around the Silesian Stadium.
In total, the riders will cover just over 100 kilometres of stages, and the winners will be rewarded at the finishing ceremony to be held on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
