Rally Silesia 2025: Leg 2 summary
On Saturday, 20 September, Mikołaj Marczyk and Szymon Gospodarczyk set the pace at Rally Silesia. The European championship leaders won six out of seven stages to end the day in front with a margin of more than 25 seconds. In the historic championship, Maciej Lubiak and Grzegorz Dachowski hold an advantage that is more than double that. The Southern Rally Championship (RMP) contenders have already wrapped up their round, with Kamil Kawalec and Sebastian Krzyżowski taking the win.
The rally got underway on Friday evening in the heart Katowice (SS 1: GZM Katowice, 1.85 km). A joint stage for RSMP, FIA ERT and Millers Oils HRSMP attracted 51 crews, including 22 historic entries. Among the modern cars, Marczyk/Gospodarczyk (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) were fastest ahead of brothers Jarosław and Marcin Szeja and the Matulka/Syty pairing – fine margins that foreshadowed a tight – Saturday.

Saturday featured three stages in the south of the Silesian region (each run twice) and an evening Super Special at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium. Marczyk/Gospodarczyk were near faultless – six wins from seven Saturday tests – including the 140th RSMP stage win of Marczyk’s career on SS 7. They carry a 25.6s lead over Grzegorz Grzyb/Adam Binięda into Sunday, with Jakub Matulka/Damian Syty holding third overall (+29.0s). Szeja/Szeja (+45.4s) and Kołtun/Pleskot (+48.0s) complete the top five after SS 8. Earlier, Byśkiniewicz/Siatkowski suffered a car issue, arrived late to SS 4 and received a time penalty that dropped them to P24 – but they fought back into the top ten by the end of the day. Tymek Abramowski’s top-tier machinery debut ended with gearbox trouble in his Citroën C3 Rally2.
In Class 3 (Rally3), Adrian Łabuda/Michał Kuśnierz (Ford Fiesta Rally3) set the pace. They lead Jakub Ulanowski/Patryk Kielar (Ford Fiesta Rally3) by just under half a minute, while third-placed Butyński/Jastrzębski (Renault Clio Rally3) are already more than three minutes adrift. In 2WD category, Dariusz Poloński/Łukasz Sitek (Lancia Ypsilon Rally4) head the order by 15.5s from Filip Šipoš/Marcel Hranka (Peugeot 208 Rally4). Kacper Potyra/Piotr Sieliło (Peugeot 208 R2) also impressed – third in 2WD with an older-generation car.

MATULKA HAS TO STEP UP
“Mistakes aside, we were about 0.2s/km shy of the European benchmark pace today. We’re experimenting ahead of Croatia – trying some unconventional set-up directions. We’re enjoying the stages, but I’m focused on finding that extra confidence for the ERC finale,” said Mikołaj Marczyk after SS 8.
“Miko has pulled clear, but Kuba and I had a very strong day. The gaps between us are tiny. We’re P2, Kuba is P3 – but there’s a long Sunday ahead. If he wants the Polish championship title, he’ll have to push,” said Grzegorz Grzyb.
“We tried, but I didn’t feel comfortable in the car this morning – I also made a mistake and dropped a few seconds. The end of the second loop was good; we’ll try to keep that into Sunday. Plenty of kilometres left to fight,” added Jakub Matulka.
“It really was a very good day. We know these stages well – it feels like ‘at home’, which helps. The test outing in Italy on high-grip asphalt showed us how much there is to unlock from this car,” said Dariusz Poloński, the 2WD leader after Saturday.

MILLERS OILS HRSMP: LUBIAK ON TOP
In Millers Oils HRSMP, Maciej Lubiak/Grzegorz Dachowski (Porsche 911 Carrera RS) are firmly in control. They’ve won five of the first eight stages, including the Katowice opener, and will leave the service park on Sunday morning with a lead of over a minute. Marcin Majcher/Mateusz Adamski (Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo) sit second, likely focusing more on keeping Marcin Kwaśny/Michał Trela (Subaru Impreza GC8, +1:12.0) at bay after they slipped to third at the end of Saturday following the stage around Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium.
Lubiak/Dachowski also lead Class B1 (1970–1992, >2000 cm3). In B2 (1970–1992, ≤2000 cm3) the benchmark crew is Piotr Gadomski/Bartłomiej Męka (Opel Kadett GSI 16V). Filip Stopa/Piotr Szadkowski head Class C1 (1991–2000, >2000 cm3), while Jan Sikorski/Marek Kaczmarek (Citroën Saxo VTS) ended the day happiest in Class C2. Krzysztof Święcicki/Jarosław Ciesielski (Peugeot 106) are currently untouchable in Historic Open −2000, with Majcher/Adamski leading Historic Open +2000. On Sunday, the HRSMP field tackles the same stages as RSMP.
RMP: KAWALEC DELIVERS STRONG RESULT
Kamil Kawalec/Sebastian Krzyżowski dominated the RMP round run within Rally Silesia, winning four of six stages in their Peugeot 208 GTI. They were quickest on the first loop in Jastrzębie-Zdrój (12.2 km) and Hażlach (9.35 km), conceding only a second in Gmina Jasienica to Szymon Gańczarczyk/Sławomir Parzyk (Citroën DS3 THP). At halfway, Kawalec led Gańczarczyk by 10.2s with Jacek Bieszczad/Paweł Piczak (Honda Civic Type-R) in third (+39.2s).
Kawalec struck the decisive blow on the second pass of Jastrzębie-Zdrój, finding 14.5s as Gańczarczyk/Parzyk slipped back. He topped SS 5 (Hażlach) as well. The Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium finale didn’t alter the top ten: Kawalec/Krzyżowski won overall and RN1, ahead of Gańczarczyk/Parzyk (+26.7s) and Bieszczad/Piczak – best in Class A. Marcin/Alicja Biernat (Citroën DS3 VTi) set the pace in RN2, while Łukasz Godula/Daniel Nowak (Peugeot 208 1.2 PureTech) took RN3. Michał Tochowicz/Piotr Białowąs (Citroën C3 Rally2) won the Open category. Gańczarczyk/Parzyk retain the RMP points lead on 120, but their cushion over Kawalec/Krzyżowski (110) shrinks by seven.

NO SERVICE BREAK ON SUNDAY
Sunday (21 September) features three stages in the south of the region, each run twice. The day begins in Marklowice Górne (11.45 km) at 09:00 and 12:40, then Kiczyce (9.70 km) at 10:00 and 13:40. “Silesian Voivodeship” (10.50 km) closes each loop around Ochaby and Wiślica, with the second pass at 14:20 as the Power Stage (points 5-4-3-2-1). Between loops, crews visit the Carbonarium in Jastrzębie-Zdrój Moszczenica for the tyre fitting zone (from 12:10). The finish ceremony and podium are scheduled on the grounds of the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium at 16:45.
