Evening show in Katowice with Kajetan Kajetanowicz

Rally Silesia’s spectacular city-centre stages – GZM Katowice and the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium superspecial – have become a hallmark of the event. As in previous years, GZM Katowice will open the action (19–21 September). The spectacle in the heart of Katowice will be headlined by Kajetan Kajetanowicz, who began his career on stages in the Silesian Voivodeship and now competes at world level in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

City stages give fans a unique chance to watch every crew at close quarters and soak up the rally atmosphere: barrel turns, glowing brakes, handbrake hairpins and the blaze of powerful light pods cutting through the night.

The 2025 Rally Silesia itinerary includes two superspecial-style stages. The first is hosted by Katowice, the co-host city of the rally. First run in 2022, the Katowice test runs right through the city centre, past regional landmarks including the Spodek arena, the Silesian Insurgents’ Monument and the Culture Zone. SS GZM Katowice is a rare spectacle in global rallying: only a handful of cities can stage tests right in their urban core. Alongside Katowice you can count Rome (Rally di Roma Capitale), Córdoba (Rally Argentina) and Athens (Acropolis Rally).

FROM CHILE TO KATOWICE

The GZM Katowice stage begins on Friday, 19 September at 19:30. First onto the 1.85 km route are the historic cars – legendary machinery from the Millers Oils HRSMP. From 20:30, the modern crews follow, including Rally2 cars – the fastest and most advanced specification eligible for the Polish Rally Championship (RSMP) and the FIA European Rally Trophy (FIA ERT).

One of those Rally2 machines – a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 – will be driven in Katowice by the evening’s star guest, Kajetan Kajetanowicz. For the four-time Polish champion, three-time European champion and WRC2 Challenger title winner, Rally Silesia is a homecoming. The route revisits sections where the Ustroń driver first cut his teeth and claimed early wins.

“I’m very happy the Rally Silesia organisers invited us again. Driving in front of the Polish fans will be full of good emotions for me. I’ll make sure the Toyota run is just as exciting for the crowd in Katowice. It’s fantastic to appear at a national event – competing in the world championship doesn’t leave many such opportunities. See you in Silesia!” said Kajetanowicz, who returns just days before the rally from South America, where he tackled WRC rounds in Paraguay and Chile.

SUPERSPECIAL KING FROM USTRON

Kajetanowicz has an outstanding record on city superspecials. In the Polish championship, alongside Jarek Baran, he claimed 11 such wins, the first in 2010. The Polish duo matched that tally in the European Championship, including three victories on the Atlantic seafront streets of Ponta Delgada ahead of the Azores Rallye.

At world level, across WRC2, WRC2 Open, WRC3 and WRC2 Challenger, this time with Maciej Szczepaniak, Kajetanowicz has set the pace on 17 superspecials. He is also the undisputed master of Warsaw’s Kryterium Asów on Karowa Street, winning eight times on its treacherously slippery cobblestones.

FREE ENTRY FOR FANS
